Be Well Texas offers free psychiatric and substance use consultation for perinatal providers. Get expert guidance on screening, treatment, and recovery support to improve care for pregnant and postpartum patients.
The Maternal Health ECHO program supports perinatal providers in delivering trauma-informed care for pregnant and postpartum patients, particularly in areas with limited access to behavioral health and substance use services. In partnership with Be Well Texas and PeriPAN, the program offers training, consultation, and guidance on screening, interventions, and care coordination to improve maternal health outcomes across Texas.
Be Well Texas offers integrated substance use and mental health services, available both in person and via telehealth statewide. We provide care regardless of a patient’s ability to pay, helping reduce barriers to timely, effective treatment.
The PeriPAN Mental Health OB Toolkit provides perinatal care providers with practical guidance on preventing, identifying, treating, and monitoring perinatal mood and anxiety conditions. It includes screening tools, clinical resources for assessment and management, and patient materials such as action plans, safety plans, and self-care tools.
Texas HHS Mental Health and Substance Use Resources is a state‑maintained directory and referral portal that connects individuals to local mental health crisis services, substance use treatment entry points, and community‑based behavioral health supports. Providers can use this site to help patients identify appropriate services through Local Mental Health Authorities (LMHAs), Local Behavioral Health Authorities (LBHAs), Outreach, Screening, Assessment, and Referral (OSAR) centers, crisis hotlines, and population‑specific programs statewide.
Supports providers caring for pregnant and postpartum patients by strengthening statewide systems that address maternal mental health and substance use disorders. Through programs such as Hear Her Texas, TexasAIM, maternal mortality review, and perinatal depression education initiatives, MCH provides the policy, data, and quality improvement infrastructure that helps clinicians recognize risk, improve safety, and deliver family‑centered, coordinated care across pregnancy and the first year postpartum.
